A Treboot story prequel
The grasslands are peaceful at this time of day, then again, they’re always peaceful when the woman that has come to be known as Kind Keeper is around. When she’s not tending to her inn to keep the adventurers, travellers and all sorts happy, she maintains the area around her inn. The biggest place that she maintains is the haloes of flowers, two perfectly circular rings of flowers, one inside the other, no matter what happens, the flowers have never been affected, no fire or fury has harmed a petal on these flowers, not since her parent’s time, not since her grandparent’s time.
She approaches the flowers as she always does, a gentle smile on her face as she tends to the grass, making sure there’s no muck, and that the grass is healthy, no big jobs but something she takes as seriously as the peace in her inn. Despite being a topic of discussion, despite people always being here, she never sees anyone here, anyone to talk about it in the moment, always after seeing it and the initial fascination and confusion have worn off.
But this time, this time she sees… something, a glimmer in the corner of her eye, a small purple glow and a figure inside. As her eye focuses on the figure, it and the glow vanish. She lets out a small sigh, a small rub of her eyes, a small mumble that she needs to rest some more. Soon enough, she finishes up and makes her way back to her inn, hopefully the paladins and bandits staying in the inn have learned to get along in her time away, don’t need a fifth fight to break up.
